PRESENTATION OF THE ORGANIZATIONThe organization BACK TO THE HORSE came to life as a response to the true story of Urška, who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 16.
In this story, the mare played a key role, which provided the girl with motivation in the most difficult moments and helped her overcome hardships. The group of founders had the opportunity to observe how a girl bravely and fearlessly fought her battle for life out of the desire to one day be able to sit on a horse again. And finally she won.
We knew that through activities and therapy with the help of a horse, we can achieve a wide variety of goals: from improvements in the field of sensorimotor functioning and strengthening of self-confidence and identity, to learning to feel, receive and give help, perseverance, motivation, trust and the will to live.
In this story, we had the opportunity to directly experience the positive effects of socializing and working with a horse, which until then we only knew from professional literature.
The organization BACK TO THE HORSE is based in the Starošince Equestrian Park. It is the first Slovenian non-governmental organization whose vision is the implementation of a holistic approach in the treatment of persons with special needs and the systematic development of the field of activities and therapy with the help of horses.
Our core activities are:
- developing different programs of activities and therapy with the help of horses for different target groups of users, children, adolescents and adults,
- organization of various workshops, sports and science days for children and young people,
- co-financing the costs of activities and therapy with the help of a horse for people from a socially weaker environment,
- raising and training therapy horses,
- design, establishment and organization of an educational system for professional personnel in the field of activities and therapy with the help of horses.
- promotion of this field, integration and dissemination of good practice.
With the help of our organization, we try to contribute to a higher quality of life for children, adolescents and adults with special needs, enable them to be friends with a horse and bring a new perspective, new energy and new hope into their everyday life.

Since 2015, "OBJEM, a center for families" has also been operating within our institution, a meeting place for socializing and meeting, as well as quality preventive programs that respond to the needs of families from the local environment. The programs are holistically oriented, based on modern, innovative work methods and provide insight into ideas for practical and effective solutions to everyday challenges, a healthy lifestyle and quality leisure time.
