HORSE BASED TOURISM project - HBT directly responded to the challenge of the program area (NE Slovenia and extreme SW Hungary: a total of approx. 1,000,000 inhabitants), as its central goal was to create an attractive cross-border tourist destination (from Starošinc to Lake Blatne) with a high-quality and recognizable offer through innovative experience programs , which invites visitors to discover a hidden, at first glance unknown or lesser-known tourist offer, beyond the existing tourist magnets.
The project developed:
– 14 new attractive tourist programs/products/services that will supplement and upgrade the tradition of equestrian tourism with the innovative approach of HBT, and at the same time less developed, protected or less accessible natural (e.g. the area of the Mura river - Natura 2000) and cultural (e.g. castles) effectively connect resources from rural areas with recognizable tourist magnets via CO2-neutral means of transport (horseback riding, carriage rides).
– 2 new training programs (for professional workers in tourism, for professional workers in equestrianism), which provided 150 listeners from the cross-border region and beyond with an insight into good practice and the necessary knowledge for using the new HBT business model, and trained them in quality professional planning and implementation of HBT experiences. The increase in competences will increase business opportunities and enable better employability.
– Three new models of CO2-neutral means of transport – the carriage of the 21st century
- a new interest association of organizations dealing with "tourism with the help of horses" according to the HBT concept.
